Born in Lynchburg, June 26, 1952, he was the son of the late Earle James “Pete” Childress and Lois Childress. Billy was retired from B & W after 33 years of service and was a former member and deacon of Memorial Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Mike Childress and his wife Magda and Troy Childress and his wife Amber and eight grandchildren, Kaileigh, Trystan, Piper, Isabelle, Trey, Chaney, Trinity and Christian.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Ken Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
