Birdie Boaze Settle

Birdie Boaze Settle of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, June 09, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of 51 years to the late Russell Harland Settle. Born March 20, 1913, in Callands, she was the daughter of the late Roy Perkins Boaze and the late Nora Jackson Boaze.

Birdie was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church for 59 years, and was a volunteer at Lynchburg General Hospital for 52 years. She loved making crafts and giving them all away. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit countries all around the world. Birdie was a very special lady to everyone who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Birdie was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Birdie is survived by one sister Mary Crist; a devoted niece, Nancy Thomas Fulcher; a nephew, O’Neal McHaney and his wife June, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and their families; and very special friends, Sandra Thomas and Virginia Martin.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Thomas Road Baptist Church-Pate Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery in Danville.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
