Carl Leroy Nelson

Born in Queens, NY, January 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Carl Nelson and Ingebord Pearson Nelson. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard at the age of 17 and was stationed in the Pacific aboard the USS Cavalier. He retired from AT&T after 33 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Janet Marie Nelson.

He is survived by children, Kenneth John Nelson and his wife Carol, Carole Ann Skelly and her husband Dave, Brian Paul Nelson and his wife Debbie; one sister, Ruth Zeidler; four grandchildren, Colleen Skelly Larzelere and her husband Alex, Daniel Skelly and his wife Meagan, Keith Skelly and Lauren Skelly.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday September 27, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplain Debrah Zuercher officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge all the wonderful people from Centra Hospice and Bentley Commons for the wonderful and loving care they provided to Roy.
