Charlene Elders Nicks

Charlene Elders Nicks, 65, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rev. Robert Benjamin “Ben” Nicks. Born October 10, 1952, Newport News, she was the daughter of Charles “Charlie” Manning Elders, Jr. and the late Juanita Alsbrooks Elders.

Charlene was a certified medical coder for Privia Health and a long-time member and pianist of Jordan Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, Charlene is survived by her daughters, Joy Nicks Tyree and her husband William of Madison Heights and Rebecca Nicks of Lynchburg; one brother, Charles Manning Elders, III, and his wife Terry of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren, Allie Brook Tyree, William Anderson Tyree, II, and Charles Alexander Tyree; and special friends, Pastor Melvin and Shelby Campbell.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2018, at Jordan Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Melvin H. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Jordan Baptist Church and at other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jordan Baptist Church Music Ministry.
