

Born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, July 23, 1957 he was the son of Charles S. Davidson of Bristol, TN and the late Ingeborg Behrendt Davidson.
Charlie was a retired Chaplain from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Charlie was an Associate Professor and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Degree program at the Rawlings School of Divinity and the Chaplain Endorsing Agent for Liberty Baptist Fellowship at Liberty University. He was currently on the pastoral staff at Thomas Road Baptist Church. He also served on the Board of Directors at Bristol Raceway Ministries, Bristol TN. During “OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM” Chaplain Davidson was the first Air Force Chaplain in Iraq assigned as the Wing Chaplain for the Air Force Air Support Operations Squadron (ASOS). Chaplain Davidson was also the first Air Force Chaplain to be awarded the “Bronze Star Medal” for bravery and valor under hostile fire and combat conditions in “Operation Iraqi Freedom” on 7 November 2003. He was ordained by Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Dr. Davidson was commissioned a chaplain in July 1986, and has served as Protestant Chaplain; Senior Protestant Chaplain; Branch Chief Chaplain and Wing Chaplain.
In addition to his wife and father, Charlie is survived by two daughters, Kristi Starnes and her husband Scott and Jessica Tipton and her husband Miles all of Forest; six grandchildren, Gracie Starnes, Landon Starnes, Brock Starnes, Megan Starnes, Isabelle Tipton and Isaiah Tipton; four sisters, Rose Schultz, Lisa Williams, Alice Davidson and Inga McClellan and one brother, Doug Boerschinger.
One son, Charles Nathan Wheeler Davidson preceded him in death.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park with Military honors by the United States Air Force.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Thomas Road Baptist Church.
