Charles Watson Morris, 67, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Ann Powell Morris.
Born in Altavista, he was the son of the late Charles Russell Morris and the late Florence McDaniel Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Charles was a former employee of Southern Air for 18 years and he was the retired owner of Central Heating and Air. He was a decorated veteran with two Purple Hearts in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and the 173rd Airborne during the Vietnam War and the Dominican Republic conflict.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles R. Morris, II of Bedford and David Witt of Spout Spring; one daughter, Cindy W. Jordan and her husband, Craig, of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jack Morris and his wife, Erma of Covington, GA and Ronnie Morris of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Mamie M. Easton of Chesapeake and Elsie Mae Denton of Gladys: four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Reverend Carlton Dunn. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military services.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 3305 Naval Reserve Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
