Claudia Louise Palanica was born to the late Marylouise and Stanley Palanica on February 23, 1963, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She was educated in the Northern Lebanon High School system and graduated in 1981.
On Tuesday, April 21st, she passed away at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia surrounded by friends and family.
Claudia was raised in Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania and later lived in Jonestown. She then made her way down to Lynchburg, Virginia, where she quickly became a familiar and welcoming presence at the University of Lynchburg. Working in the cafeteria as a cashier, she connected easily with students, and her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who passed through her line.
She also found joy in watching the University of Lynchburg athletics teams, proudly cheering them on and celebrating their successes as if they were her own.
Claudia also cherished her trips to Myrtle Beach, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and creating lasting memories together. Those trips were a special part of her life and something she always looked forward to.
Claudia is lovingly survived by her son, Kory Palanica (Lebanon, Pennsylvania); brother, Tom Palanica (Middleburg, Florida), and sister, Vochelle Perry (Phenix, Virginia). She also leaves behind an aunt, uncle and host of nieces, nephews and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Claudia’s kindness and her laughter will be missed by all, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be dedicated in memory of Claudia Palanica to the University of Lynchburg’s Athletic Director’s Champions Fund.
