Curtis Burch Mays Sr.

Curtis Burch Mays, Sr., 72, of Lynchburg, went home to be with his boys, Curtis Mays, Jr. and John Daniel Mays on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital He was the husband of Nora Wilson Mays.

Born February 12, 1940 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late George Lewis Mays, Sr. and Dora Hudson Mays and was also preceded in by two brothers, Eugene Mays and George Mays, Jr. and two sisters, Dorothy Mays and Mary Mays Sorrells Maddox. Curtis was retired from E.C. Delivery and was a member of The Lynchburg Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Ruth Mays Campbell of Lynchburg and Nancy Mays Gallaher of Ringgold and many special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Gary Vernon officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Appomattox.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Terry and Rita Campbell, 5640 White Oak Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.
