Earl Harold Newman

Born in Bedford Co., he was the son of the late Herbert Adell Newman and the late Mary Hedrick Newman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce “Mickey” Payne.

Earl was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Madison Heights and a retired mechanic for Powell’s Trucking Co. after many years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jeffrey Newman and his wife, Gloria, of Hurt and Paula N. Wilson and her husband, Mike, of Huddleston; three step children, Gerald W. Terry of Cumberland, David M. Terry of Lynchburg and Donna T. Breshears and her husband, Eric, of Middleburg, FL; two sisters, Lucy Ann Lambert and Mary “Pat” Payne and her husband, Kenneth, all of Altavista; seven grandchildren, Dustin Newman, Joshua Dawson, Emily Wilson, Hedi Breshears, Amanda Breshears, Chris Terry and his wife, Katie, and Matt Terry; three great grandchildren, Kayden Terry, Chase Terry and Hunter Avery and his favorite cousin, Peggy Sisk of Altavista.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Grove Church Cemetery in Cumberland.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, April 23, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
