Elizabeth Shortt Wood

Born on July 6, 1927 in Halifax County, she was the youngest and last remaining child of 13 of the late Floyd Shortt and the late Permelia Moon Shortt. Elizabeth was a graduate of Virginia Commercial College and retired from Falwell Aviation after 46 years. She was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church for 66 years, where she was a member of the Dakota Sunday School Class and head of the nursey for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Elizabeth was a member of the ABWA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her 12 brothers and sisters.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Sharon Wood; son, Randy Wood and wife Janice; two grandchildren, Kristen Schirmer and husband Mike and Trevor Wood; two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Madeline Schirmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Randy Bower officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
