He was born in Lynchburg on January 5, 1932, son of the late William and Carrie Almond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Catherine S. Almond; brothers, Herman and James Almond; sisters, Earlene Cooper and Catherine St. John.
Fred was retired from Aerofin and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. He was a United States Army veteran having served his country during Korea. In his spare time he enjoyed reading his bible, bird watching, and walking.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Pribble and husband Billy and Lisa Hailey and husband Robert. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as numerous other close family members.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastors Gary Vernon and Ray Triplett officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Hill Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the funeral home.
