Garland Fox Johnson, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away, Friday, November 1, 2013, at his residence. Born July 11, 1938, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Pitzer Johnson and the late Eula Smith Johnson.
Garland was a retired, self-employed cement contractor for McGuire and Johnson Concrete Company, and he was a loving father, brother and grandfather. After he retired, Garland enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed his trips to the beach.
In addition to his parents, Garland was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Johnson Campbell and three brothers, Ralph Johnson, J.P. Johnson and Harold Johnson.
Garland is survived by his son Keith Johnson (Cheryl) of Nathalie; his sister Shirley Martin (Milton) of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Cheyanne Johnson and Zachary Johnson; his former wife, Delores Gutherie; a sister-in-law, Inez Johnson of Ashland; six nieces and nephews; and a special friend, J.C. Woods of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be conducted, 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Fort Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. David Heerspink.
