Born in Waugh, VA., September 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Willie Edward Hawks and Annie Belle Fifer Hawks. She was a retired plant manager from Courtland Manufacturing after over 40 years of service. She was a longtime member of Timberlake United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a former member of the Sweet Adelines.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl E. Hawks; and two sisters, Dottie Coleman and Katherine Abbott.
She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Hatcher, Jr. and his wife, Pat of Lynchburg, and James E. Hatcher of Big Island; one sister, Janet Farish of Lynchburg; and one grandson, Michael Hatcher and his wife, Stacey of Delaware, OH.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Lynn Alley-Grant officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of her son Robert.
