Gloria Roberts Baughn

Gloria Roberts Baughn, a loving, devoted grandmother, mother, and friend to all those whose lives she touched, passed away peacefully in her home in Lynchburg, VA on November 7, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born November 6, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. She resided in Lynchburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Webb Roberts and Louise Kirby Roberts, Husband Robert “Bob” Alton Baughn, Son Thomas Patrick McGinn, Grandson Patrick McGinn, her sisters Mary Rapp (Leonard), and Jean Dunn, her sister in law Sarah Roberts, and Great-Grandson Jacob Williams.

Gloria is survived by her Sons David McGinn (Ann), and Timothy McGinn (Ruthie) of Lynchburg; Daughter-in-Law Patricia McGinn of Fredericksburg. Her grandchildren Brandy Knight (Roy), Mike McGinn (Jennifer); Heather Garrard (Patrick); Matthew McGinn (Anne); Joni Morcom (Andrew); her brother Ray Roberts of North Carolina; and numerous great-grandchildren. She had wonderful neighbors and special friends including Sue Marose, Keith Kervin, Paulette, and Betty Martin whom she loved dearly.

In the early years, she was a hairdresser in her own salon, Mickey’s Sassy Scissors. She enjoyed cutting hair for nursing home residents and the local community of Lynchburg, VA. She was a spunky, busy, hardworking woman. She always enjoyed keeping busy and rarely liked to sit down. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed having everyone around for the holidays. She had a love for chocolate cake, especially in the middle of the night. She collected angels over the years from her loved ones and displayed them as her guardian angels. She enjoyed living on her corner lot because she was able to look out for her neighbors by peeking out the windows.

A graveside service for Gloria will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
