Gloria Josephine Hughes

Born in the Bronx, Gloria always referred to New Jersey as home, since it is where she met her husband and raised her son. A woman of strong opinions and determination, she became one of the first female managers for the Felsway Corporation, working as an accessories buyer. Gloria left the workforce temporarily after her son was born, but she soon returned, becoming a valued contributor to companies like Prudential and Nabisco. In 1995, she and her husband relocated to Forest before moving to Asia, where she made many close friends from around the world.

Upon her return to the US in 2000, she began a new career at the Andy Mathews Agency, where she worked until her passing. She loved her colleagues and the agency’s clients.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Brian A. Hughes of Forest, and her son Brian C. Hughes of Hoboken, New Jersey, as well as her brother-in-law Stan, her niece Stephanie and Stephanie’s husband Kevin, and their children Maren and Ashton. She is preceded in death by her father Carlo, her mother Eleanor, and her sister Ann.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
