

She was born in Bedford County on May 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Elijah David and Lottie Leftwich Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley M. Jordan; a brother, Talmadge Scott and two sisters, Salene Margaret Scott Preas and Audry June Scott Bradner.
Survivors include two sons, P.H. Mitchell, Jr. and Charles Mitchell both of Lynchburg; one sister, Doris Baber; one brother-in-law, Oma Bradner; one sister-in-law, Hilda Jordan; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Grace graduated from New London Academy in 1932. She was a star basketball player and elected Class Historian of her class. She retired from the Central Virginia Training Center in 1983 and went on to do volunteer work for Tomahawk Elementary School and The Carrington nursing home. She was a member of Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Jonathan Falwell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of her son P.H. Mitchell.
