

Born in Lynchburg, May 18, 1930, he was a son of the late Daniel Wingfield Lloyd and Eva Vest Lloyd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel D. Lloyd and Lester Lloyd, Sr., one sister, Minnie L. Dalton and one granddaughter, Dylan McGann.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Verla M. Lloyd, his daughters, Kathy Marie McGann and husband Brian of Manassas and Lisa Danielle Turille and husband Randy of Lynchburg; Verla’s two children, David Layne of Madison Heights and Pamela Anne Morris and husband Larry of Utah; one brother, Herman E. Lloyd; four sisters, Estelle Lawhorn, Freda Sowers, Betty Coggsdale and Jean Edwards; seven grandchildren, Shannon McGann, Brendan McGann, Elleri Grace Turille, Ashley M. Morris, Whitney N. Morris, Natashia K. Layne and Erika S. Layne; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to being an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend, he served his country in the US Army and was an active member of the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene and also attended Leawood Baptist Church. A retired builder and construction foreman, he was so very proud of what he built with his hands. One of his hobbies in his later years was woodworking. Jake also loved to “tee it up” at Cedar Hills and other golf courses around the area. Jake will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. We will miss you Jake S. Lloyd.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Steven Willis and the Rev. Lenn Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
