He was born in Danville on October 2, 1943, son of the late James Robert Durham, Jr. and the late Mary Fuqua Durham.
He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Butch loved NASCAR and go-kart racing but his real love was fishing.
He is survived by his sister Mary Durham Anderson and her husband Billy; a niece, Susan A. Reynolds and a nephew, Lee Anderson and his wife Teri as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Reverend Charles Schooler officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Mountain View Cemetery in Danville. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Salem United Methodist Church Missions Fund, 5216 Colonial Hwy, Evington, VA 24550.
