

James, born on June 16, 1956, was a man with a heart for service and a spirit for adventure. He found great joy in exploring the world around him, often taking scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway simply to appreciate the beauty of the journey.
A dedicated servant to his community, James spent over 30 years working with The Salvation Army. During that time, he played a vital role in organizing and overseeing the Angel Tree Program, bringing hope and joy to countless families. He also served as President of the Men's Club at The Salvation Army and was an active member of the Disaster Relief Team, always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need.
James was a natural-born leader—respected, compassionate, and committed to making a difference. His legacy of service and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish James’ memory include his children, Harry Harvey and B.J. Harvey; his siblings Patricia Scruggs, Jerry Stanley, Glen Stanley, Carl Stanley; his aunt Doris Stanley; his close friends Michelle and her husband Wayne, Jamie and Linda; his landlord Barbara; and his many nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service for James will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 2:30pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
