Born August 6, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late James Richard Vance and Edith Reese Vance. He was retired from Adams Motor Company with over 25 years of service and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa V. Bhalla (Kris) of Lynchburg; his son, James R. Vance, III (Amy) of Vancouver, WA; one sister, Virginia V. Wilmer of Salem and five grandchildren, Alex Bhalla Chotiner, Brice Bhalla, Taylor Vance, Leaf Vance and Lake Vance.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Falwell offiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
