Today is a Celebration of Life, In remembrance of. . . Jeanette Jeree Barnes June 5, 1993-March 29, 2017 Our daughter, sister, aunt and cousin, Jeanette lived her life with an abundance of love and dignity and traveled her own path. Jeanette’s strength of choices, was also her weakness. She had a heart, pure as gold, though she fell short of many She attended Bowie State University in Maryland to become a Child’s Social Worker. She worked hard at things she embraced. Her love was unconditional to many, without a doubt. Jeanette has hundreds of friends and I thank Cheryl Leendoro for always being there, even during the hard times. Jeanette’s outcome of life came up short, but her living as a stepping stone was greater. I, Mom salute you “Baby Girl”! She leaves in passing, her mother, Arenetta Whitaker Smith (Star) of Lynchburg, VA; three brothers, Kelvin Whitaker of Lynchburg, Terrance, Jr. and his wife and Melvin Boomer, Jr., all of New Jersey; sisters, Jon Bean of Maryland and Shauna of Washington D.C.; her Godparents, Lamont Blair and Leisa Washington, also of Washington D.C.; her sisters-in-arms, Graciela Williams and Karena Jackson, who along with Jeanette, were the “3 Amigos”; a host of God fearing Grandmothers and Grandfathers who help to make our community a family. Jeanette was preceded in death by a sister, Kawana. The family wishes to thank the Heartland Staff and Dr. Webb, Dr. Brennen, Dr. West, and Dr. Dabney and Lynchburg EMT Bruce Ellsworth and Holly Sales and so many others who loved and cared for Jeanette. A Celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at All Nations Church, 305 Sixth Street, Lynchburg, VA, 24504 at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017.
