John Pollard McFaden Sr.

Born on October 6, 1932 in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Hurley Ashby McFaden and the late Marcia Coleman McFaden. John serviced our country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Mead. He enjoyed his family, friends and fishing. John also enjoyed gardening and spending time at Buggs Island Lake. John was a member of the American Legion Post 16, where he helped with baseball for many years.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings, William “Herman” McFaden, Joseph “Howard” McFaden, Charles Ashby McFaden, Berkley Francis McFaden, Raymond Arthur McFaden, Minnie Francis “Sis” Martin, Annie Lee McFaden, Abner “Lee” McFaden, Robert Owen McFaden, Margaret Jane “Pete” Wright, James Edward McFaden, Bernard Allen McFaden, and one who passed shortly after birth.

John is survived by his two sons, John McFaden, Jr. and wife Kimberly and Timothy McFaden and wife Wendy; four grandchildren, Alysun McFaden, Bethany McFaden, Tyler McFaden, and Madison McFaden; one sister, Elizabeth McFaden Wright; his life-long companion for the past 17 years, Mary Garrett; and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Tammy Clark officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
