

Born on December 14, 1951 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late John and Flora Williams. John was a faithful and devoted son to his parents. As he got older and married the love of his life, Bonnie, he treasured his marriage vows and became the protector and provider for his family. John and Bonnie had three wonderful children, who he loved and adored dearly and he had many close friends that he also loved liked family. John has worked in the Lynchburg City Public Schools for 30 years and has coached many youth teams in various sports for 40 years. During those times he has mentored and helped shape the lives of many athletes and students to become the best they can be and to work hard to achieve their goals in life. John enjoyed collecting cards, watching westerns, tennis, music and his family vacations at the beach. Some of the teams he enjoyed watching and cheering at Alabama, UCLA, NY Yankee’s, and the NY Giants. He was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a grandson, Aiden Clayton Martin.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Bonnie; son, John Michael Williams and fiancée Stephanie Marple and Joshua Lee Williams; daughter, Julie Williams Martin and husband Kyle; two granddaughters, Kylie Martin and Scarlet Williams; one granddaughter, Hannah Kay Martin who is due in August; and numerous friends, co-workers, and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Linkhorne Middle School and at other times at the residence.
A graveside service will be held at 4 pm on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Magee officiating.
