Joseph Richard Buckley, Sr., 70, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Cheryl Witt Buckley.

Born August 27, 1947 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Joseph Eldridge Buckley and the late Nancy Johnson Buckley Early. Mr. Buckley was retired from J.M. Huber in Halifax and was a U.S Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bedford.

Mr. Buckley is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Buckley, Jr. and wife Laura and Victor Turner, III, all of Forest; two daughters, Nancy B. Jackson and husband Lare’ of Amherst and Shannon B. Hicks and husband Tony of Concord; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends to celebrate Richard’s life from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
