Born in Appomattox County, June 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Dewitt Talmage Goin and Alice Brown Goin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy G. Norcross and one sister, Nannie Farinholt.
Joe was a retired farmer and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Joe was a kind and humble man who never met a stranger. He will be missed but his family rests in the assurance he is with his Heavenly Father and rejoice in knowing they will see him again.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Annie Franklin Goin;
two daughters, Brenda Inge of Lynchburg and Peggy Shaner and her husband Brad of Forest; six grandchildren, Michael Norcross, Heather Hankins and husband Steven, Richard Inge and wife Kathy, Ashley Schemeley and husband Doug, Autumn Shaner and Bradley Shaner and two great grandchildren, Micah Norcross and Jacob Inge; five brothers, James Hunter Goin, Marshall Goin, Lester Goin, Leon Goin and Steve Goin; five sisters, Katie Adams, Rachael Harris, Mary Lucas, Barbara Dickerson and Margaret Ann Guideo.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in the Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
