Joseph Dwain “JoJo” Wilkerson, 36, of Concord passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He is survived by his parents, Nathan E. Wilkerson, Jr. and Debra Jean Reeves Wilkerson of Concord; one brother, Nathan E. Wilkerson, III of Lynchburg; two sisters, Vickie Lee Johnson and husband Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC and Debra Jean Christine Marie Wilkerson and husband Robert Eadie of Dundee, MI; his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Giles of Charlestown, MD; a number of aunts and uncles, Walter J. Wilkerson and wife Karen and Harry Wilkerson both of Lynchburg, Robert Miles and wife Nancy and Robin Miles both of Christiansburg, Jill Lee Hill and husband Stanley of Gladys, Jenny Wilkerson Hall and Christine Wilkerson Key both of Lynchburg, Herbert Glesson Reeves and wife Ellen of Jacksonville, FL, Shirkey Howard Moore and Daniel Ray Reeves and wife Darlene both of MD, Phillip Jonathan Reeves of Lexington, VA, Samuel Nathan Reeves and wife Lisa of MD, Mary Sue Smith of Delaware, Patricia Gay Phenneger and husband Billy and Helen Lynn Dougherty and husband Bobby all of MD, Nancy Evelyn Barker and husband Boone of Lexington, KY and Carla Elizabeth Level and husband Pete of Lexington, VA and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Ray Wilkerson; his maternal grandfather, Glesson Herbert Reeves; his paternal grandparents, Nathan E. Wilkerson, Sr. and Ruth Burnette Wilkerson and one aunt, Victoria Alice Moore JoJo was born in Salem, NJ, December 2, 1978. While in school, he was active in the Air Force ROTC in Hanover, VA and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was always willing to help others. A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at New Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Dooley and the Rev. Frank Casper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider New Chapel Baptist Church.
