

Kenneth Errett Shy, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away, Monday, October 28, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Rebecca “Beckie” Reynolds Shy. Born January 21, 1932, in Mechanicsburg, OH, he was the son of the late Edward Irvin Shy and the late Myrtle Viola Shoemaker Shy.
Kenneth was a retired Health Physicist for B & W. Company and a member of Fairview Christian Church. He also served our country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy. Kenneth loved to spend time with his family. He also loved to garden and attend NASCAR races.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by brothers and sister from Ohio and one special granddaughter, Jill Marie West.
In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by his children William E. Shy of Lynchburg, Raymond M. Shy (Elaina) of Pensacola, FL, Wendy Walker (Gary), Connie Jones (Bob) and Judy Berryman (T.C.); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Jackie and David of Generations Solutions and Centra Hospice for their special care during Ken’s illness.
