Leola Arthur Kidd Conner

Leola Arthur Kidd Conner, 92, of Lynchburg, died, Monday, May 02, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born April 28, 1919, in Bedford County, to the late George A. Arthur and Maude B. Arthur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands J. Gilbert Kidd and B. Linwood Conner; and her brother Maurice L. Arthur.

She was a member of Euclid Christian Church and the YACS Sunday School Class. She graduated from Boonsboro High School, Allen Beauty School and attended for a short time in training for a nurse at The Gallinger Hospital, Washington, D.C. Mrs. Conner retired from General electric after 23 years of service, and she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, #41.

Mrs. Conner is survived by one brother, George A. “Buck” Arthur, Jr. of Forest; one sister, Eva A. Day Arthur of Coleman Falls; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces including, Linwood L. Arthur, David M. Arthur, Grace D. McNeely, Betty Lou D. Lipscomb, George Wayne Arthur, Carolyn A. Tyler, Donald R. Arthur, Steven L Arthur, and Shirley A. Huffman. Also to cherish her memory are friends at line-dancing for 22 years, the Williams Home this past year, and many long time friends.

A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2011, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles L. Stinson.

The family will receive friends, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
