
Lula May Beard, 84, of Forest, died, Monday, September 17, 2012, at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Richard Maurice Beard. Born October 6, 1927, in Martinsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen Koger and the late Lissie Cannaday Koger.
Lula was a retired credit clerk for Sears and Roebuck and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a member of Heritage Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Lula was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline K. Stegall.
In addition to her husband, Lula is survived by one son, Charles L. Beard of Lynchburg; one daughter, Mary B. Evans of Forest; two grandsons, Richard Warren Evans and his wife Chere of New Carrollton, MD and Charles M. Evans and his wife Tiffany of Forest; two great-granddaughters, Nadine Evans and Teagan Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Heritage Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
