Mary Reed George

Mary was born on March 4, 1913 in Craig County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Clara Belle and George Heilman Reed. She grew up in Miller Park where her father was Superintendent of Parks. Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Edward Thomas George, and her five siblings: Esther Reed, Christine White, Virginia George, Mabel Louise Wingfield, and Carl Reed.

Mary is survived by her three children: Mike H. George, Jr., and his wife Yuriko, of Tacoma, WA, Thomas R. George, and Mary Ferguson, and her husband Sanford, all of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
