Born in Campbell County, October 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John E. Robertson and Carrie Candler Robertson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Mary was a dedicated homemaker and also worked at Busy Bee Nursery for a number of years. Well into her eighties, she enjoyed visiting nursing homes and hospitals, specifically those who did not have family visiting. She would say that she is going to “visit the old people”. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, Ennis Rush and Tom Rush both of Forest; one daughter, Jo Ellen Montgomery and husband David of Forest; six grandchildren, John Mayo (Julie), Chris Mayo, Carrie McCall (Greg), Karen Montgomery, Mary Alice Sandridge (Tom) and Pam Mattox; 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with James H. Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the register between 9 and 5 Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
