Maxine Virginia Zollars McQuaid, 87, of Lynchburg went to be with her Lord Monday, September 12, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Flo Rena Zollars. Maxine was born in Sumner, IL, on February 19, 1929. For 70 years she was the faithful companion in life and ministry with Rev. Elwood McQuaid. Maxine was the last surviving member of her family of two sisters and four brothers.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by one son, Thomas McQuaid.
In addition to her husband, Maxine is survived by three children, Andrew McQuaid (Gwen), Melissa Cleary (Jeff) and Jason (Jana); and one daughter-in-law, Jackie McQuaid. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Maxine loved her Lord and Savior deeply spending ample time in His Word every day. Above all other things she cherished her family. In a “Thanksgiving Blessings” note in 2014, she expressed her hope for the future: “When I am gone and the Lord comes back in the clouds to call all His saved ones, my most fervent prayer is that all my family will meet me in the air so we can all arrive in Heaven together – Thank you Lord for everyone and everything you have blessed me with.” (I Thessalonians 4:16-18)
