Michael P. Exner, 23, of Lawrenceville, GA and formerly of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Born on September 7, 1997 in Raleigh, NC, he was the son of Greg and Diane Exner. Michael was a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy where he was in the marching band. He was active in his youth group at West Lynchburg Baptist Church before transferring his membership to Corner Stone Baptist Church in Monroe, where he remained active helping the youth. Michael had a passion for missions and reaching people for Christ. Michael loved to hike and spend time admiring the beauty of God’s creation. Michael is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Moldenke. He is survived by his parents, Greg and Diane Exner; brother, Kevin Exner; maternal grandfather, Edward Moldenke and wife Janice; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Tiny Exner; uncles, Scott Werthman and wife Debra, Tom Exner and wife Pam; aunts, Lori Albrecht and husband John, Stephanie Houdek and husband Jeff, and Marie Exner; and numerous other family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Corner Stone Baptist Church in Monroe with Pastor Peyton Fitzgerald officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, c/o Youth Missions or WMU Missions, 3031 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24501.
