Patricia Ann Hawkins Dreyfus was born on August 6, 1947, and passed away February 24, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Patricia was born to an elated Alfred and Monica Hawkins in Rochester, NY. She was raised in a loving home with parents who adored her and a family who cherished her.
Patricia Dreyfus attended Gates Chili High School in Rochester, NY, where she excelled academically and graduated in June 1965. The following August 1965, she attended Alfred State Technical College where she studied nursing. It was one month later she met the love of her life, Lynn Elliott Dreyfus Jr., at a community hootenanny. Lynn was from Delhi, NY, and attended Alfred University in Alfred, NY, at the time. Patricia and Lynn were married on September 9, 1967, honeymooned in Cape Cod, MA, and remained deeply in love with a marriage lasting more than 54 years. They raised two beautiful daughters together and named them Monica and Christie.
Lynn describes Patricia as a “soft, gentle, thoughtful, and kind person who loved to laugh and smile.” He adds, “She was my ideal, the best I ever met.” Her daughters describe their mom as a loyal, trusting, and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was optimistic and encouraging to friends and family as well as strangers. Patricia is remembered for her contagious laugh and her readiness to have fun, from camping, swimming, or canoeing with Lynn to playing cards and board games, particularly Yahtzee, with her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her Mimi. She enjoyed her cats, gardening, cooking, reading, creamy chocolate milkshakes, and hot tea. Patricia loved the outdoors and enjoyed exploring natural settings. She loved the cool air on her face, the heat of an outdoor fire, and the coziness of a warm sleeping bag. Together with her husband they had multiple stories of their adventures of camping in the Adirondack Mountains of NY; their excursions antiquing throughout New England; and their getaways to the coast of Maine for Maine lobster.
Patricia and Lynn resided in Alfred, NY, Cold Spring, NY, Hopewell Junction, NY, South Pomfret, VT, Waterville, NY, Queensbury, NY, and Evington, VA. They made friends easily and often. Over the years, Patricia worked in customer service for local merchants. She eventually found her niche in banking, starting as teller, advancing to a loan officer position, then a branch manager position. Patricia remained a valued and highly skilled bank employee at both the Woodstock National Bank in Woodstock, VT, and the Glens Falls National Bank in Glens Falls, NY. However, her role as mother and grandmother remained her favorite.
Patricia Dreyfus is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Monica Hawkins of Rochester, NY. She is survived by her husband, Lynn Elliott Dreyfus Jr. of Evington, VA; her daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Philip Schultz of Winchester, VA; her daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Joseph Eno of Clayton, NC; her loving grandchildren, Jenna (Eno) Arnold and husband Blake Arnold of Linden, NC, Alexa Eno and fiancé Marion Burrows of Greensboro, NC, Fynn Schultz of Richmond, VA, Elliott Schultz of Winchester, VA, and Grey Schultz of Winchester, VA; her great-grandson, Hudson Arnold of Linden NC; her sisters-in-law, Ann Dreyfus and Deborah Dreyfus both of Ballston Spa, NY; and her numerous beloved cousins.
Please send thoughts and prayers to our Lord Jesus Christ for a family in immense pain and grief. The family wishes to thank those who have reached out and expressed their love and support and to thank the Lord for having known her. Patricia Ann Hawkins Dreyfus’ caring and loving heart will live forever in all who knew and loved her.
