

Peggy Bell Mays, 87, of Lynchburg, passed away, Friday, July 25, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of James Mays. Born June 7, 1927, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Kelty Bell and the late Marian Garbee Bell.
Peggy was a retired secretary for General Electric Company with 29 years of service and a long-time active member of White’s United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church. Peggy was a graduate of Rustburg High School, Virginia Commercial College and Central Virginia Community College.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Harvey and Janet Withers; five brothers, Holmes Bell, Henry Bell, Breck Bell, Macie Bell and Hayle Bell; and one grandson, Cameron Owen Mays.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her son, Stephen Edward Mays and wife Karen of Myrtle Beach, SC; one grandson, Dustin Mays of Appomattox; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Jack Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
