Richard William Crist Sr.

Richard was born August 28, 1939 in Lynchburg, the son of the late William and Lillan Crist of Madison Heights. Richard was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Ann Crist.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Crist Rakes and her husband, David of Forest, and Carolyn Crist Burgess and her husband, Titus of Altavista; one son, Richard W. Crist, Jr. of Bedford. Also a very loving Best Friend his dog “Hummer”; eight grandchildren, Emily Rakes Woody, Crystal Burgess Hicks, Jaclyn Burgess Carter, Kayla Rakes, Titus “ Tyler” Burgess, Jr., Tara Burgess Dalton, Keith Burgess, Troy Burgess; and eight great grandchildren.

Richard worked 40 years for G.E. / Ericsson, customer service center. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Mackey No. 69 Rustburg, Va. He was a long time member of the Lyn-Dan Heights Ruritan Club and past president of the ruritan. He was a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel conducted by the Rev. George Hatmaker and Rev. Thomas Hicks. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with Masonic rites at the grave.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home from 6: 00-8:00 p.m.
