

Born October 1, 1971, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Richard William Crist Sr., and is survived by his mother, Nancy Schley Crist.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Alice Schley, and William and Lillian Crist.
Richard graduated from Brookville High School, in 1989, and went on to receive two associates’ degrees from CVCC, specializing in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed sports and had many hobbies, baseball cards, coin collecting, and fishing, to name a few. He loved animals, and had two special dogs, “Rocko”, and “Chloe”. He was a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors also include his fiancée, Beth Philbrick, and her children, Joey and Todd Philbrick, of Bedford; his sisters, Sharon Crist Rakes and husband David, of Forest, and Carolyn Crist Burgess and husband Titus, of Altavista; special friends, for over 20 years, William Hudson, of Lynchburg, and Chris Burch, of Roanoke, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2013, in Fort Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. George Hatmaker.
