Richard Edwin Reed

23 mai 1942 – 13 avril 2025
Avis de décès de Richard Edwin Reed
AUX SOINS DE

Whitten Timberlake Chapel

Richard Edwin ("Dick") Reed passed away on April 13, 2025, in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of 82. Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on May 23, 1942, Dick grew up in Weirton, WV, and lived a full life surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of good memories.

Dick proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1960s, showing his dedication to his country early on. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State University and his master’s degree from Indiana State University. In June 1967, he married the love of his life, Vicki (Riggenbach) Reed, and together they shared 57 years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Dick worked with IBM for over 25 years and also contributed his talents to KPMG and Kitsune during his career. His work took him and his family across the country, and they had the chance to call Greencastle, Indiana; Mahwah, New Jersey; Bloomington, Minnesota; Derwood, Maryland; San Jose, California; St. Mary’s, West Virginia, and Lynchburg, Virginia home along the way.

When Dick wasn’t working, he could often be found fishing, traveling, or spending time in his workshop crafting wooden projects, with state clocks and first-letter initial designs among his favorites. He loved helping his family, whether it was offering advice, lending a hand, or simply cheering them on.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Sue (Riggenbach) Reed; his son, Michael Reed and his wife, Tina (Ijamsville, MD); his daughter, Michelle (Reed) Breeding and her husband, David Breeding (Lynchburg, VA); and his three grandchildren, Alexandra Reed, Ashley Breeding, and Ryan Breeding. He is also remembered by his siblings, Tom Reed (Columbus, OH), Marian Holder (Jenks, OK), Linda Kerr (Wheeling, WV), and Nancy Reed (Los Angeles, CA), and their families, as well as cherished extended family and friends.

Anyone who knew Dick knew what a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend he was. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met, with his kindness, wisdom, and great sense of humor.

Dick’s cremation will take place in Lynchburg, Virginia. The family asks that you honor his memory by spending time with the people you love and sharing kindness in his spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and announced once the details are finalized.
