Robert Eldridge Gilbert

Born May 13, 1927, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Ross Randolph Gilbert, and Florence Flint Gilbert. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

Mr. Gilbert was retired from E.J. Levino. He was an avid football and baseball fan, and loved rooting for the Redskins.

Survivors also include two sons, Robert Michael Gilbert, of Lynchburg, and James P. Gilbert and wife Amanda, of Madison Heights; six grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Camron, Katey, Allyson, and Carly Gilbert, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 3, 2010, from 3-5:00 p.m. at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel, and at other times at the residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010, at the funeral home, by the Rev. Maurice Coffey. Interment will take place in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
