Roger Lee Williams

Roger Lee Williams, 88, of Rustburg, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Freda Tabor Williams. Born on April 21, 1930 in Johnson City, TN he was the son of the late Dewey Maynard Williams and the late Mary Crumley Williams. Roger served our country in the United States Army and retired from the US Postal Service. Roger was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical engineering. He enjoyed golf and going to his high school reunions, class of 48 from Elizabethton High School in Tennessee. Roger loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Williams, Ralph Williams. Roger is survived by his children, Robert Williams, Randolph Williams, Sandra Williams, Debra Hargrave and husband Milton, and Marjorie Williams; seven grandchildren, Justin Allen Williams, Clinton Stuart Williams, Landon Noel Williams, Ashton Williams Hennessey, Micah Orin Williams, Mackenzie Hargrave, and Grayson Hargrave; two great grandchildren, Allura Morgan Williams and Reece Williams Hennessey; brother, Benny Williams; sisters, Faye Campbell, Betty Smalley, Mary Ann Houston and husband Otis, and Patricia Rogers; and numerous other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debra Johnson-Poe, Sally Middleton, and Sally Worden. A private celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethany United Methodist Church.
