

She was born on March 24, 1929, in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Maynard and Gladys Hale. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Roxie Spruce.
Ruby is survived by her six sons: Raymond J. “Cricket” Spruce, Jr., Lonnie L. Spruce, and his partner Marsha Harris, Jack L. Spruce, Eddie L. Spruce, and his wife Michele, Freddie L. Spruce and Kenny E. Spruce, and his wife Tammy; her sister, Rachel McKeag, and her husband Chuck; four brothers: William Hale, and his wife Peggy, Andrew Hale, and his wife Doris, J.C. Jones, and his wife Joyce, and Bob Jones; a brother-in-law, Harry Lee Spruce; and an exdaughter-in-law, Terri Roach; and a host of numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Carlton Duck officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
