Samuel Felix Ragland

Samuel Felix Ragland, 68, of Lynchburg, passed away, Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Medical Care Center. He was the husband and best friend of 45 years to Gloria Layne Ragland. Born October 2, 1945, of Warwick County, he was the son of the late Samuel Junior Ragland and the late Christine Anne Tucker Ragland.

Samuel was a retired night, stock manager for Kroger Company, and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Samuel is survived by his niece, Sharon Winfree of Evington and great nephew, Wesley; his cousins, Walter and Emily Carwile of Lynchburg and Michael and Gayle Weigand of Lynchburg; and “his baby”, canine companion – Suzie Q.

A funeral service will be conducted, 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. J. Monty Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the nursing staff at the Medical Care Center for their caring support to Samuel and the family.
