He was the son of the late Anthony Joseph and Marie Ann Spano. He would say his greatest accomplishment in life would be his two children and seven grandchildren that he loved dearly.
He is survived by his son Christopher Spano (Tina) and daughter Julia Marcus (Barry), his brother Philip Spano (Pauline), and two sisters, Linda Tauler (Sergio) and Lois Kikola-Ambrose (Todd). He is preceded in death by his oldest brother Wayne Spano (Mary). He also has numerous nieces and nephews that survive him.
Stephen served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 to 1977. He had a very strong Christian Faith, loved the Lord and lived by the word of the Holy Bible, believing in Jesus Christ as his savior. As Paul, one of his favorite men of faith would say in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and loved spending time watching games with family.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA.
