Walter Ellis Whittaker Jr.

Born in Beckley, WV, February 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Pansy Mitchem Whittaker. Walter earned his Master’s degree from Liberty University in Religious Education. He enjoyed spreading the gospel. He was a past longtime member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and currently a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He loved West Virginia football and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always willing to help anyone in need.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Sarah Elizabeth Whittaker of Piney River and John Thomas Whittaker of Lynchburg and two grandchildren, Annabelle Leigh Mays and Sadie Lorraine Mays.

A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Carlton Duck officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.

In lieu of flowers, his grateful family respectfully requested the needs of the family be considered.
