

Wayne Jeter Leftwich, 85, of Lynchburg, died, Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at The Carrington. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Tolley Leftwich. Born December 26, 1925, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Frank Jeter Leftwich and the late Olivia Cocke Hawkins Leftwich Brooks.
Mr. Leftwich was a retired building inspector for the Virginia Department of Mental Health and he was a member of Amelon United Methodist Church. Mr. Leftwich also served our country in the US Army during World War II and in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a former member of the American Legion Post 274.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Leftwich is preceded in death by two brothers, James Preston Leftwich and Edward Hawkins; and three sisters, Christine Abbott, Arlene Owen and Edith Brooks.
Mr. Leftwich is survived by two daughters, Brenda L. Hon and her husband John of Bluffton, SC and Cindi L. Mann and her partner Dennis Morton of Lynchburg; one brother, Cliff Hawkins and his wife Virginia of Lynchburg; former son-in-law, John Mann; five grandchildren, CW3 Jarrett Hon and his wife Nina, Erin Hon, Morgan Weller and her husband Ben, Sarah M. Hunt and her husband Troy and Amy Mann and her partner Travis Wray; six great-grandchildren, Makellah Mann, Reagan Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Addison Wray, Chase Hon and Kaylee Weller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Keith Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, where the Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors will present Military Honors.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence of her daughter, Cindi Mann.
