Wilbur Edward Silvester Jr.

Born September 15, 1958 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of Alice Owens Sawyer of North Carolina and the late Wilbur Edward Silvester, Sr. and was also preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Joseph Austin. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Wilbur Edward Silvester, III of Rustburg; two daughters, Danielle Yvonne Silvester Dudley (Wesley) of Roanoke and Denise Virginia Silvester of South Carolina; three step-children, Derrick, Leake, and Holly Johnson; three brothers, Randy Dale Surgen, Jr. of North Carolina, Steve Cash (Angie) of Botetourt, and Jeff Cash (Michelle) of Evington; three sisters, Alice Rockefeller (Bill) of Appomattox, Cheryl Johnson (Ed) of Vermont, and Tiffany Silvester of North Carolina; many step brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Ray Ray Wisswell and Kevin and Derrick Powell, who Eddie thought of as his sons.

A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, Wednesday, August 21, 2013, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
