William Harrison Holmes

William Harrison Holmes, 73, of Forest, passed away, Friday, May 2, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Elaine Shields Holmes. Born March 13, 1941, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Henry William Holmes and the late LouVerna Hammons Holmes.

Harrison was a former employee of Lowe’s and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He also served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Harrison was a loving son, husband, father, granddaddy/grandpa and brother.

In addition to his parents, Harrison was preceded in death by one sister Alata Holmes.

In addition to his wife, Harrison is survived by two sons, Donnie Holmes of Lynchburg and Timothy Holmes (Lena) of Forest; two siblings, Carson Holmes (Susan) of Concord and Roselda Spencer of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Brittany Drake, Danielle Holmes and Kaylie Holmes; a special friend, Lucille Groat of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Virginia Memorial Park with Dr. H.O. Tom Thomas officiating.

There will be no scheduled visitation hours, yet all are welcome to visit with Mr. Holmes at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mrs. Elaine Holmes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, Forest, Virginia.
