“Ms. Winnie” donned her high heel shoes and danced into heaven today, met by her cherished first grandchild, Juanita Marie Poindexter; her parents, John and Bessie Viar; beloved sons, Lawrence and Nelson Campbell and son-in-law Bill McGibbon. Also joining her party were two sisters; Irene Burley, Virginia Robertson, six brothers; Everett, John, Thomas, Andrew, Frank and Walter Viar… and maybe her four husbands. Leaving behind to miss her but celebrate her very fulfilling life…
She had some stories to tell! Two daughters, Doris Doss McGibbon, Ginger Shannon Young, two daughter-in-laws, Mary and Marielle Campbell, and one sister, Elizabeth “Becky” King Lynn.
Giving her the greatest joy were her grandchildren; Finley J. Doss; Joan; Tammy Dantz, Jean Francois Campbell; Shelli, L. “Dee” Shannon, Beth and Laura McDaniel; Henry. Great grandchildren: Melissa Byerly Hill; Jared, Christopher Wayne Byerly, Lindsey Mitchell; Marcus, Sara Poindexter, Jack Doss, Christin Bonamonte, Trevor Campbell, Perry Campbell, Patrick Clarke and Ainsley, Colin, McKeely and Ian Shannon, and great-great grandchildren, Her “Princess” Skyler Pugh-Byerly, Kai Hill, (She loved to see these two!) Abbi Poindexter, Summer and Kayley Mitchell, Regina, C.J. and Diseree Bonamonte. “Miss Winnie” also had numerous nieces and nephews, especially Frankie Viar, and a dear friend and son-in-law, David Byerly.
The family would like to thank the Centra Hospice staff; Care From the Heart, care givers, and Dr. Daniel Carey and Robbie Price, who kept her heart strong and happy for many years.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m at Whitten Timberlake Chapel conducted by the Rev. Andrew Gross. Interment will follow in Beach Grove Cemetery in Roseland.
The family will receive friends today at the funeral home from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
