Billy was born January 29, 1947 in Denison, Tx to parents William Dayton and Mammie (Grant) Brookshire and entered eternal rest on August 31, 2020 at the age of 73. Billy loved watching westerns, especially John Wayne. Before his accident, he loved riding his motorcycle…and JOHN WAYNE! He met and married the love of his life, Janelle Finley Jordan, in 1969. They loved the outdoors and camping and had 4 daughters and he still loved John Wayne. He was known as “PAPA” to his biggest fans. He loved his grandchildren and they loved spending time with him. Sometimes, he was their personal ATM. Billy was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He had a heart as big as Texas. Billy was a Charter member of Wildwood Baptist Church of Mabank, Tx. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janelle Brookshire and brothers John Brookshire and Harold Brookshire. He is survived by his daughters: Tammy Ramsey and husband Terry of Mabank; Stephanie Brown and husband Robert of Euless; Catherine Otterline and husband Kenneth of Mabank and Carla Brookshire of Dallas; sister, Irene Meek and husband, Bob of Seagoville; bonus daughter, Micaela Bee and bonus son, Kevin Jordan. Grandchildren: J.W. Byars, Jordan Byars and Jake Byars; Christopher Childers, Carl Heming, Callie Brown and Robert Brown, Jr.; Joshua Otterline, Jerik Otterline, Kieran Carroll, Kaley Carroll, Peighton Brookshire, Jordan Grace Byars, Breanna Byars , Jacobi Cogdell and Elijah Cogdell. 17 Great-grandchildren, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends. We realize the influence daddy made on our lives as well as everyone else. It was through his example that we learned to be the wives & husbands and mothers & fathers we are today. Our father was hard-working, strong, loving & gentle. Duty, decency, reliability, honor, dignity and respect are all the qualities he held in high esteem and practiced every day during his time on earth. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Grief never ends…but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay.
