

Dick was born to Levi and Mattie Armstrong on April 21, 1931. He attended school in Midlothian, TX, graduating with the class of 1949. Dick was united in marriage to Bobbie Ann Hendley on July 24,1953 and they spent 64 happy years together.
Dick worked for the Dallas Morning News for close to 40 years, retiring in 1988. Dick loved sports, having played football and baseball in high school. He developed a love of golf and introduced his sons to the game. He followed his sons in their sports, serving as their coach, caddie, and biggest fan. After retirement, Dick and Bobbie Ann enjoyed more than twenty years in the country home they built near Eustace, TX.
Dick was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family, and particularly with his six grandsons – entertaining them with gator and tractor rides, fishing, and backyard baseball games. He also took great pleasure in watching them in their sporting events.
Dick is survived by his brother, Jim; son, Ty and wife Mary and their sons, Patrick, Tim, Justin and Matt of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and son, Shawn and wife Kathie and their sons, Grant and Grayson of Waxahachie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and nine siblings: Audrey, Eual, Clayton, Lois, Leon, Roy, Ray, Joe, and Tillie.
Visitation Saturday, February 18 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Eubank Funeral Home in Mabank. Graveside service at 1:00 PM at Cottonwood Cemetery in Eustace. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Dementia Society of America at www.DementiaSociety.org/donations, or to the charity of donor’s choice.
